Best aggregate score from both Challengers tournaments: £1,000 and £500 |
||||
Challenger tournaments play daily at 10am.
The rate of play is all the moves in 100 minutes + 10 seconds per move added from the start.
The games rarely last more than four hours and competitors can play in the Masters as well as a morning event.
No player may win more than one of the above prizes in one week except for the two prizes of £1,000, £500 for the best aggregate score from both Challengers tournaments which are additional to the prizes winnable in each separate event.
Note: A player rated under 2250 could win £6,000 by winning the two Challengers tournaments (£1,500 + £1,500), the combined score from both (£1,000) and the rating prize in the afternoon (£2,000): a mere 20 games to get that. It is the highest rating restricted prize in the world. |
||||
Open to players with FIDE ratings under 1850 or nationally rated players of under 1850, ECF grade 156, or unrated players.
The right is reserved to place players in the Challengers if thought unsuitable for the Amateur.
