What's new on this website...

 

5 April 2010: A zipped PGN file of all the games from Amateur 2 has now been included on the Download Games page.

 

17 February 2010: A zipped PGN file of all the games from Amateur 1 has now been included on the Download Games page.

 

7 February 2010: The results pages are now complete (save prize lists and one crosstable).

 

6 February 2010: The downloads have been updated to include the second game of the Vallejo Pons-Sandipan play-off semi-final and the complete score of the last round game between Gopal and Stefanova. But I still do not have last-round results and cross-tables for the Challengers and Amateurs tournaments, I'm afraid.

 

5 February 2010: hope you all enjoyed coverage of the tournament. Things are pretty hectic after the tournament, with the lengthy play-off, etc, and in the wake of this, the closing of the congress and the arrangements for players and officials departing for home, a few outstanding items on the website are still to be posted. We ask you to bear with us while these are made available.

30 January 2010: Challengers Round 5 PGN games now available: game viewer and PGN download. And download all the Challengers 1 games in a zip file. Note, the result was a four-way tie between three Norwegian players, Katrine Tjolsen, Odin Blikra Vea and Anders Gjerdum Hagen, and Sandu Ungureanu from Romania. Well done to them. Official confirmation of this result will follow.

31 December 2009: A long list of names have been added to the player lists today, including the women's world number three, GM Hou Yifan and two Peruvian world junior champions, brother and sister Jorge and Deysi Cori Tello. 12 November 2009: Big name alert! We have Gata Kamsky playing in the 2010 Gibtelecom Masters - one of the greatest chess prodigies of all time, he is already a legend, but still only aged 35.

25 September 2009: two more very big names have joined the competition - Sergei Movsesian of Slovakia who now overtakes Mickey Adams as top seed (he's rated 2711) and reigning Women's World Champion, Alexandra Kosteniuk of Russia. See the updated 2010 Player List.

18 June 2009: we are now into planning for the 2010 Gibtelecom Festival - Tuesday 26 January 2010 to Thursday 4 February 2010 - and you can expect to see more details here very soon. Already there is a list of the major invitees so far on the home page, plus biographies of those players.
