"It is very satisfying to see that following
the success of the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess
Festival the Junior Chess Festival is also being
established very successfully. It is intended that,
with the support of all sponsors and other
affiliates, this Junior tournament will continue
developing for the benefit of chess internationally,
and particularly in Gibraltar where its positive
effects are already being recognised."

- Joe Hernandez;
CEO; Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority.
"The Tradewise
Gibraltar Chess Festival, now in its 11th year, is
often referred to as the Best Open Chess Tournament
in the World. What we are doing with the Junior
Chess Tournament, in partnership with the Government
of Gibraltar, is seeking to extend that success to
involve and engage with younger chess players from
across the world, and in the time that we have been
involved we have witnessed a revived interest in the
playing of chess in Gibraltar amongst our young
people."

- Albert Isola,
trustee, Kusuma Trust. |

"The Association of Chess
Professionals (ACP) is proud to support the
Gibraltar Junior International Chess Festival, a
notable event on the global map of junior chess. The
top three Under 16s in this year's festival (to
include at least one girl) will receive a year's
free membership of the ACP, joining the company of
the strongest chess players in the world."

- Emil Sutovsky, ACP President
