Krishnan Sasikiran is ranked 44th in the world on the FIDE rating list of January 1st 2012 with an Elo of 2700.

 

Sasi, as he is sometimes called, earned the GM title at the 2000 Commonwealth Championship and in 2001 won the prestigious Hastings International Chess tournament.

 

In 2003, he won the 4th Asian Individual Championship as well as the Politiken Cup in Copenhagen. He tied with Jan Timman for first place in the 2005 Sigeman Tournament in Copenhagen/Malmo Denmark and in 2009, tied for 2nd-3rd with Etienne Bacrot in Antwerp.

 

In December 2008, he won City of Pamplona international chess tournament by an impressive one-point margin with a rating performance of 2795.

 

In October 2011, Sasi won clear first in the open section of the 15th Corsican Circuit and earlier in the year competed in the Gibraltar Masters, scoring 6/10.
