  • All EU Nationals may enter Gibraltar with a valid identity card or passport.

  • Holders of Schengen visas must obtain a separate visa for Gibraltar (check exemptions below)

  • Gibraltar visas can be obtained from the British Embassy/Consulate in your home country.

  • Holders of UK Multiple Entry visas issued for 6 months or more do not require a separate Gibraltar visa.

  • Travelling via London? You need a British and a Gibraltar visa.

  • Travelling via Spain? You need a Schengen and a Gibraltar visa.

Note: Players who travel on passports of the following countries, if in possession of a valid Schengen multiple entry visa, and who enter Gibraltar (also via the airport) do not require a separate Gibraltar visa for visits of up to 21 days: China, India, Mongolia, Russia, Morocco and Ukraine.

 

The organisers will provide formal invitations for visa purposes, however it is vital that players start their visa application process no later than 1 November 2016.

 

Warning: if you leave your application too late you will not be able to process your visa in time.

 

By Air: Gibraltar Airport has daily scheduled flights to and from London-Heathrow (British Airways), Bristol and Gatwick (EasyJet), Luton, Manchester, Birmingham (Monarch Airlines), in the UK. The is also a New EasyJet route, twice weekly, year-round, Manchester to Gibraltar. Approximate flying time from the UK is 2½ hrs. Royal Air Maroc also operate a service between Tangier and Gibraltar twice a week. The flying time is 50 minutes.

 

Malaga

Malaga in Spain is the nearest other airport hub with flights from most European cities. The distance to Gibraltar is about 120 km, with the transfer time by road about 90 minutes. Car hire is available. There are also taxis.

 

Malaga to Gibraltar Bus Transfer

The organisers offer a special transfer service from Malaga Airport. Buses will leave Malaga Airport for Gibraltar from 12.00hrs to 17:00hrs on Sunday 22 and Monday 23 January 2017, returning from Gibraltar to Malaga Airport on the morning of 3 February 2017, commencing at around 7am. The cost will be as previous years: £15 one-way, £30 return.

If you wish to book a return journey please give Peter your departure time from Malaga including your flight number. Booking now, guarantees you a seat. Please note: buses may not run later than 17:00 from Malaga.

 

Malaga to La Linea Public Bus

 

   

La Linea is at the border with Gibraltar. You can travel via Malaga city centre, or via Marbella, but the journey time from Malaga Airport can be over 3 hrs. For timetables see www.andalucia.com

 

Currency

The legal tender is the Gibraltar pound. UK pounds have exactly the same value and are equally welcome. Euros are widely accepted in shops, restaurants and so on.

 

Health

No specific vaccinations are required for Gibraltar, Spain or North Africa. If you wish to visit Tangier (Morocco), there may be a ferry from Gibraltar on certain days of the week. If not, you should plan on taking a ferry from either Algeciras or Tarifa (Spain).

 

Climate

The average temperature at that time of year is 15 degrees celsius.

 

Tourism

There is limited parking at the Caleta Hotel, as well as in designated spaces nearby, both these options being strictly for hotel residents only. However, a large public parking area is available for all, by the beach, 5-7 minutes' walk from the Hotel, and for which there is no charge.
