Este, nuestro Sexto Festival Internacional de Ajedrez Junior de Gibraltar, va a reunir a más Federaciones que nunca. Ofrecemos muchas actividades paralelas: recepción de bienvenida en el Hotel Caleta; torneo blitz (¡con premios!); simultaneas con los grandes maestros; clases magistrales y entrenamientos; y cena de gala. El Festival está dotado con £12,000 en premios, con hasta diez premios por categoría. Muchas de las partidas se trasmiten en directo, y se podrán ver en pantalla en el mismo Hotel. Sin duda alguna el Festival te va gustar. Todos y todas sois bienvenidos/-as!

GM David Howell to join the Festival!


The organisers of the 6th Gibraltar Junior International Chess Festival are delighted to announce that three times British Champion David Howell, currently rated 2663, is returning to the Rock for this year's event.


David joins the team of GM Pia Cramling, GM Juan Manuel Bellon, GM Stuart Conquest, and IM Jovanka Houska, all of whom will be present throughout the festival, with coaching, masterclasses, and a giant simultaneous display all on the agenda.


Come and experience this unique and fun-filled atmosphere: visit Gibraltar, make new friends and maybe take home a big prize!

The venue is the Caleta Hotel and follows the successful pattern of the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival, offering competitive chess-playing opportunities with an equally strong social, fun and educational programme.

The prize fund total £12,000


There are two main categories:


a) open to competitors aged under 16 on 1 January 2016 (born in 2000 or later);

b) open to competitors aged under 12 on 1 January 2016 (born in 2004 or later).


Max FIDE rating 2300 on May 1st 2016.

For non-resident players the entry fee is £75, which includes event entry fee, general manager's reception, gala dinner, master classes, coaching and simultaneous, rock tour and dolphin safari (weather permitting).

Rules & Regulations


Time control: All moves in 1 hr 50 minutes plus 10 seconds per move.
Default time: 30 minutes.
Age Groups: Under 16 on 1/1/16 ( Born 2000 or later) (Maximum FIDE elo rating 2300 on May 1st 2016).
  Under 12 on 1/1/16 (Born 2004 or later)
Prizes: As per the Prize Panel. Total: £12,000.
Entry Fee: Included in The Caleta Hotel Package. For non-residents please contact Stuart Conquest.
Mobile Phones: These must not be brought into the playing area. If a player’s phone makes any sound or is used during play, the player will forfeit the game.
Rating Opportunities: The event will be FIDE rated for under 16’s and under 12’s according to FIDE regulations.
Any dispute arising in connection with the rules and regulations governing the tournament shall be determined by the organising committee, whose decision will be final and binding.
Players registered as ENG on the FIDE rating list will need to be gold or platinum ECF members.
